1. "We haven't served hamburger pizza in 25 years." -
Who said it: A manager working at Round Table Pizza. Pretty good pie. Just don't ask for ground beef. If you do, they'll look at you as if you have 3 heads!
My response: "Failed smile" and an overly sarcastic, 5-minute diatribe at my table about how "absurdly high maintenance" it was of me to ask for pizza topping options beyond that of just pepperoni, saugsage and canadian bacon.
2. "So what exactly is sweet tea anyway?"
Who said it: Aunt B, my favorite NoCal aunt-in-law who obviously hasn't spent enough time in the South!
My response: I just looked at her like she had 3 heads.
3. "Sir, you can't sleep here!"
Who said it: A security guard at Harrah's in Lake Tahoe after I apparently broke some unwritten rule that you're not supposed to fall asleep in a casino lounge at 11:45 at night!
My response: "Yeah, I can - I just did!"
4. "How come Tate can take a nap but I can't?"
Who said it: Me, when I was so dog tired from Tate waking up at 6 AM that morning thanks to the time change. It was late morning when I said it and I wanted to take a nap. Unfortunuately, it was time for me to pack up the car.
Kelly's response: That look she gives me when she doesn't want to hear it!
5. "I'm not too crazy about Chick-Fil-A."
Who said it: Stephanie, my mom-in-law just after we had a delicious and affordable meal at one of America's finest fast food restaurants.
My response: "How can you not be crazy about Chick-Fil-A? What are you, a terrorist?"

Thanks for the smile. Loved the list.
Um, I seriously hope you made Aunt B some sweet tea. Going through life without ever drinking sweet tea is BEYOND me!
Your post reminds me of a trip we took to Alabama back in March when we stopped by a steak house. There was no steak on the menu. I had to special request a steak menu, and when I asked for it she looked at me like I was crazy! People these days!
Hey Wade - first of all, this post was hysterical. Great vacation stuff.
Maybe Aunt B and I oughta hang out. I married into a family that orders sweet tea by the gallons for any family event. Imagine the disgust on their faces (even after 13 years in the family) when at the July 4th luncheon, everyone had this 132 oz mugs of sweet tea and as mine was being poured, I had the audacity to put my hand over the top and say, "I'll take water." They still look at my like I'm crazy. Sorry, I just don't care for the stuff. Of course, I was the talk of the weekend, because then they broke out the watermelon for the ever-important America tradition on the 4th of July - and there I was again, saying "sorry none for me." Again, stares and maybe even a glare or two.

Aunt B

Hey A,
I didn't make Aunt B any sweet tea but instead told her to get some from Chick-Fil-A.
Crazy story about the steak house! Hope you're doing well during the last few pre-baby days!

Hey Randy,
Gotta loves those family "chirping crickets" moments!
I know, I know - I should comment. Sometimes I feel weird commenting on a small business blog when I'm technically not a small business owner. I'll speak up though since you asked.

Alright, Aunt B - you ready?
Sweet tea is iced tea brewed with sugar. It's the secret of the south!

Hey Michelle,
What is it with some people? :)
Thanks all for stopping by,
W
I used to fall asleep in the Columbia Bible College library as my friend did his homework; I did all my homework at home with the computer.
Others napped in the library too, which was always too warm.
I like your version of a "vacation recap"!
Two things. #1 My mom is from a different planet. Seriously. How can you not like CFA? #2 The thing I was looking forward to the most about the move to South Carolina was that you don't even have to say "sweet tea", it already comes that way!!
Guess I should have taken your advice and ordered the tea at Chic Fil A as that's usually what I put in my tea anyhow...lots of sugar and lemon! Maybe next time.
Aunt B
Thanks so much for your thoughts & encouragement.
I really appreciate you!
We ate at the Round Table Pizza when we were there! Despite no hamburger it was awesome!
