Tate's First Sponge Bath

I took these shots during Tate's first sponge bath a few weeks ago.

See, I have heard that the bath is an extremely tricky manouever (British spelling) with a slippery, squirmy baby. You may have to give me some pointers on this whole dealio.

Not that I'm the expert, but I've noticed that baths are much easier when your child is 'milk-drunk'.

After every feeding, Tate gets this glazed-over look and goes into a "Hey man! It's all good!" mood - that's when you give the bath!

Also, you may notice that there's a little blanket covering up his lower regions - that's to keep him warm but mostly to ensure that we won't end up needing a bath as well.

Wade, thanks for the blog comment and congratulations on your new baby.

Happy New Year.

although wade... i will say that at times when the "milk-drunk" is taking place, there is activity in the lower regions that can make bath time pretty interesting. so be careful :) we learned the hard way!

Hi Wade! Tate is such a handsome little guy! I ran across your blog a while back, and you mentioned that you travel to Brownwood a lot. My father-in-law is a doctor there and knows you. Random, huh? His name is Mark Martin.

Hope you have a great New Year's with the little guy!

Wade... sorry to use your blog to post another comment, but kate m. if you read wade's comments again... we are missionaries in Bolivia and our supporting congregation is in Brownwood. I worked at the hospital there for almost two years before leaving the states as an SLP and was blessed to know your father-in-law. He is a great man and his patients so love him! God bless you and your family.

(again... sorry wade :)

Hey Kate & Laura!

Whoa! Small world!

Kate - I actually saw a picture of your dad-n-law on your blog and thought to myself, "Hey, he kinda looks like Doc Martin." But yet I didn't actually think it was actually Doc Martin. Small world!

Laura is right, he's a great doctor. His office is one of those I actually enjoy calling on. His staff is always so pleasent. There are some offices that are a drag because the Dr makes it such a bad place to work.

I would ask you to tell him I said hello but I'll probably see him myself next week! I'll tell him you said hello! Ha!

Laura - Actually I'm glad that you made your comment to Kate because it made me realize that you and I have a Brownwood connection as well.

Kelly and I are very close to Daryl & Marilyn Haynes' family. Their son, Stephen, and his wife are probably our closest friends - eventhough they just moved back to Brownwood and now attend Austin Ave! Thier daughter, Melissa, and her family go to church with us at Vista Ridge. Small world!

I just feel silly because of all the times I've visited your blog, I've never made the connection that your Austin Ave link was the same church that Daryl & Marilyn go to in Brownwood!

Crazy!

I just made my husband read all of the great comments about his dad! Thanks for those. His office actually offers employment to several members of the family, so when you go, tell Cherrie (cousin) and Becky (aunt and Cherrie's mom) we said hi, too!!! Also, Laura, you may know Cherrie and Ken McKillip because they attend Austin Ave.
