This One's For Jody

Sorry about the heavy sports theme I've been rolling with recently - but, it is that time of year.

Jody and I were laughing about some of the funny ESPN commercials. Here are a couple I dug up on YouTube.

This first one is a classic.

Here's some background info for you non-sportsy type people - this next commercial is implying that Drew Brees drives a Mardi Gras float for a car simply because he's the quarterback for the New Orleans Saints.

Did you really think I would post about ESPN commercials and not include the two with Tony Romo?

Hmm, the news up here is that the Bills may be playing some regular season games up in Toronto in the future. Some local sports commentators think this could mean the end of the CFL.

Later, Wade.:)

Hey Russ,

The NFL is definitely thinking international. Toronto is one thing but London is something different altogether - New York and Miami are set to play in Wembley Stadium this weekend. NFL owners think there are billion$ in untapped revenue in the UK and Europe. There's even talk of having the Super Bowl in Europe.

Gasp!

But I don't see how Buffalo playing a couple games on the other side of Lake Ontario will result in the demise of the CFL unless the CFL is doing much worse than I'm lead to believe. If anything, the NFL should support the CFL as sort of a minor league to help develop talent. My thought is that a stronger CFL can only mean good things for the NFL.

Speaking of which, are you a Seahawk fan?

Hey Wade,

I have never viewed the Seahawks live, but would like to one day. I suppose they have been too mediocre for me to bother supporting. Time will tell concerning the CFL, as it may stick around in a less prominent form, but I would not be surprised if the Southern Ontario fan base switches mainly to the NFL. The CFL is viewed as a minor league here already and the NFL moving in to Toronto at all will weaken the CFL which receives more support, according to the media, from its Western Canadian markets.

Cheers:>

what a hoot! I just read your blogging of blog stalkers....
i thouroughly (is that how you spell that - it is hard when you are learning german to spell anything in englisch)
enjoyed this blog
good points
i don't use my real name or put any pictures that can be completely recognized because I work where those who know me might be put in jeapordy - so I keep it a bit obscure. I was just informed yesterday I have pretty well closed myself off to a certain type of work because I can't be completely 'cleaned up' on the web. ... Interesting huh!

Hey MMissionary,

Thanks, glad you enjoy the blog.

And let me clarify that I don't expect people to reveal personal information - your mode of operation is quite prudent given the reality of personal ID theft. It's the willingness to say to someone 'you don't know me but I read and enjoy your blog' that I think we should have. How much personal information about yourself you want to give the blog author is still very much up to you.

As for spelling when learning another language - oh, yeah! Studying French always made me second guess my already horrendous spelling!

Thanks for stopping by,

W
