A Couple of Quick Hits . . . .

1. We spent the weekend in Arkansas admist gorgeous fall colors. Kelly kept saying "I hate Texas!" - implying that Texas is ugly. I tried to encourage her to say "I love Arkansas!" instead. But now that I think about it, she's right - Texas is kinda ugly!

2. It's all fun and games until you fall victim to the Daylight Savings time change two mornings in a row!

We completely forgot while staying at Bert & Paige's house so we woke up an hour early on Sunday. Then by the time we got home, we were too tired to notice that our clocks were still wrong when we went to bed last night. Kelly stepped into the bathroom just as I was stepping out of the shower to inform me that it was only 5:45 AM . . . aw, blank! . . . and that Tate was already awake . . . blankity-bleepin'-blank-blank!

3. Speaking of the bleepin' time change, is it just me or is it already depressing how it gets dark before 6 PM? Umph!

(PS: I really don't have a potty mouth - I just put that there so that you'd get a full appreciation of my frustration at that moment!)

Hi Wade.

When I lived in Manchester, in the winter some days it was dark just after 4 pm.

Completely jealous of your Arkansas trip (that is where I am from) and I am a firm believer that Texas seriously needs to plant a few trees.

The time change is not my friend, however my children really have enjoyed playing at 5:30am the past few mornings.

Ugh! I hate time change. Now my kids are trying to get up at insane times like 4:30am. I am convinced it is simply a way to torture parents.

I absolutely abhor driving to work in the dark and then trying to fall asleep in blazing daylight the next morning (night shift). When does time change? April? I'm ready for April.

You were HERE??!!

Oh, well -- we weren't. We went up north in the state to enjoy more fall foliage.

This DLS time thing has messed up our house, plus...we put E in her big girl bed, which means no boundaries! EARLY! AND yes, you got Chicken on a Chain! Read my post.

Hey Russ,

Dark by 4? I'm sure they failed to mention that on their brochures!

Seriously, I would go crazy!

But don't you get a lot of the overcast weather like Seattle?

Hey L,

That's right! I forgot you were from Arkansas. Then you would appreciate this - this past weekend was Tate's first venture into your fair state and our friends, Bert & Paige - whom you may remember from ACU, made sure that Tate got his first Arkansas Razorback wind suit!

And yes, I'm devising a plan of stealing many of the trees in Arkansas and relocating them to my neighborhood!

You would have also been jealous of my Sunday morning walk. It was that perfect temperature of not too cold but still a little crisp. The early morning sun brought out such beautiful colors!

So tell me, again . . . why do you live in Texas?

Hey Jill,

I overheard someone say yesterday how glad they were that they got an extra hour of sleep! Clearly they don't have little kids!

By the way, I think you won the prize for best Halloween costumes for your kids. Great idea made even better since you made them yourself! You should start a business!

Hey Audra,

I can't say that I envy you. But at the same time, I'm glad someone is willing to do it - seeing how I known to frequent the ER from time to time!

Speaking of which, I actually thought about you and Shannon, my sis-n-law, yesterday as I was standing in an ER waiting to speak with a Dr about my new drug.

It was insanely crazy and I wondered if I should even have been there. I kept thinking, "I could never work in a high-stress, high-octane work environment where people are depending on me to make them feel better!"

Like I said - I'm glad someone else is willing to do it!

Thanks all for stopping by,

W

Hey Wade...just checking in and I had to comment on the "I Hate Texas" stuff...of course, keeping in mind that I am a Texan with no regrets! BUT, having grown up in the Houston area with the tall pines, grass like carpet that I love to walk barefoot in every time I go home (even at age 50'something), and then moving to North Texas to see what "America the Beautiful" means when it sings about "amber waves of grain" and to see the most beautiful sunsets...I came to realize that in Texas you can find geography and seasons to fit your every need without having to travel to California or Arkansas or about anywhere! My grandparents lived in Arkansas and it is beautiful...if you just didn't have to drive on their roads! So, every state has its pros and cons, but I love Texas. Glad you guys are here! If Kelly wasn't here then I may not have my beautiful daughter-in-law! lol
Love catching up on the sweet baby of yours via your blogs!
