"Where in Dallas/Fort Worth do you go for great Tex-Mex?"

I really thought I had included all the popular restaurants. But with Other being the clear winner, it’s obvious that I have a serious omission(s).

Total Votes: 25

don pablo's is still my favorite. it's not much different than on the border. i also like el paseo's by my mom's house in keller. i don't know of any places around here that aren't chains. in denver, i'd say satire's. if you ever go to denver, let me know, i can give you a whole list of places to go and places to eat.

Pappasito's, for one. Also, Posado's. But I won't turn down Mi Cocina either. Ah, the restaurants we miss here in Abilene.

Hey Kel,

I've been to El Paseo's - it's good. I just keep forgetting about it!

Another place in that area I keep forgetting about is next to Wal-Mart on the corner of Davis and Tarrant Pkwy (near Super Target). I forgot the name but I remember they had great salsa & queso.

Hey Wendy,

Pappasito's is good but since they ripped me off once when I was doing a lunch for a Dr's office I've never gone back. Good food though. Too bad I hold restaurant grudges!

Posado's is good, too - especially thier ice cream machine!

Hey Phylemon,

Bueno? Seriously? C'mon! It's great for fast food quality . . . but of all the D/FW Tex-Mex locales you would go to Bueno? I'm sure Kelly would agree with you. At least you didn't say Taco Bell!

Change of subject: Great job organizing things and preaching today - I only wish there were more people there to appreciate your hard work! I never could figure out why we had so many gone today.

Hey TxMom,

CHUY'S! I knew I was going to leave a great restaurant off my list and that's the one! You're right - Chuy's is great! My sister originally took me there when she lived off of Knox-Henderson. Kelly and I used to go there all the time!! Tex-Mex greatness!

Thanks all for stopping by,

Wade-

One of the worst things about moving to Kentucky has been the decrease in the quality of Mexican food. Mexican food is almost non-existent here and it is a constant urge that I have to fight. We do have a Don Pablos but you have to go to Indiana to get it. We also have an On the Border, but that is subpar as we all know.

My favorite Dallas Mexican food places are La Hacienda Ranch. Our VRCC friends can attest to that. I drag them there whenever we are in town. I also like 7 Salsas in Coppell. They heat their salsa which is a great touch that more places should try.

I am also with Paul. I love Bueno. Now I know that Paul is not a huge Mexican fan and so Bueno is really his favorite. I love it too, though. You have no idea how much I have craved it in the past year. And I could make a killing if I could open up a franchise here in KY.

Yeah, I'm a Tex-Mex wimp. Virginia is not known for its Mexican food (anyone remember Chi-Chi's?), so it's not part of my cultural heritage. Kent is right that La Hacienda is pretty good, but that may just be the variety of food, so I'm not stuck with just Mexican.

I'm okay with Sunday, although as always I'm kicking myself that I wasn't more prepared with the Sermon. I just felt like I was rambling. I'm also befuddled as to where everyone went. Paranoid me always assumes that there was some fun party that no one invited me to. We will keep promoting the sign up sheets for the next few weeks to see if we can catch Stragglers.

I didn't vote in your original survey, but my fav is a local joint called Casita Dominguez over here in Dallas....so so yummy!!

Hey Kent,

Yeah, the farther away from the border you go the harder it is to be authentic. I remember coming across a 'Tex-Mex' joint in Prague called El Paso. A ham quesadilla was the only thing I could make out on the menu (I may be czech but I can't read czech!). It didn't taste anything like ham or a quesadilla but I didn't care!

I have to agree with you though on La Hacienda. The only thing is that I don't think of it as Tex-Mex despite its menu - I guess the decor throws me a little. They have my favorite dessert - apple pie with ice cream and brandy butter! Good stuff!

Hey Phylemon,

Chi-chi's! I've forgotten about Chi-chi's! My parents used to go there all the time!

Hey Jenni,

Casita Dominguez. Kelly and I will give it a try!

I didn't participate in the survey, but if I HAD, I would have said Mexican Inn, Chuy's, or Pappasito's. In that order.
