Tate-ism #4

This is what I found when I went to the nursery the other night after hearing a not too happy Tate.

Tate somehow worked his arm out of my award-winning swaddle while managing to keep his shirt sleeve still tucked in.

Looks like we've got a little Houdini on our hands.

Or perhaps a south-paw quarterback - that's pretty impressive arm strength! Which makes total sense seeing how I'm left-handed and threw a mean spiral in Pee-Wee football!

That is impressive...arm out of the swaddle and his pjs!

He already looks different since the last time I saw him!

what a precious little man! nathan was famous for "undoing" our swaddles. We eventually bought some of those thermal material blankets (i think from wal-mart) at the suggestion of my sis-in-law and because those things can streeeeetch... they're perfect for swaddling, and poor nathan met his match. it also cracks me up that in the middle of the night, you had the clarity of mind to catch it all on "film" :)

Hey Tara,

Thanks - I obviously have Kelly to thank for that!

Hey Laura,

The blanket in the picture is the best one we've got and works nearly all the time. But since it was made by a sweet lady at our church I can't just run to the store and buy another one.

I'm learning that you need to have a camera within reach all the time!

Thanks all for stopping by,

W

Isn't that amazing? I remember Ryan doing that too! I would wrap it like twice around him to the point where it was almost cutting off his circulation and he could come out in record time.

Hey Jules,

I think he is starting to play a game with me when I swaddle him because it's always a race for me to get him wrapped before his arms get loose.

And, for Tate, flailing arms can be dangerous. Just tonight he was sitting in Kelly's lap, swinging his arms around like a rock star when he poked himself in the eye.

The poor guy had a look on his face like, "What just happened?"

He then proceded to scream as if the world was coming to an end!

Breaks your heart!

Thanks for stopping by,

W

wade... what a blessing it is to have so many who love to "shower" our babies with gifts. sorry, i didn't mean to imply ditching the blanket... it's a really sweet blanket... was just passing on what worked for us. i so sympathize with the flailing arms, I was so glad when Nathan got arm and head control, it made all of our lives' a little safer :)

Laura!

OK, a little cyber-miscommunication here! I went back and re-read my comments to you and I thought, "Uh-oh! That does sound a little snippy!"

Check the time stamp - I think I was a little tired at the moment.

What I was trying to say was that this blanket usually works well and we would love to go to the store to get another one just like it but we can't because it was hand-made by a lady at our church. I don't have the courage to ask her to make another blanket!

Please don't think that I took your comments as you trying to get us to ditch our blanket!

In fact, I would love to use the SwaddleMe blanket (made out of thermal material, I think) but Tate is still too small for it.

Please feel free to continue to pass on any helpful hints - Kelly and I are no experts by any means!

No worries,

W

That picture is so funny! He's looking at you like "Daaaaaaad, why are you taking my picture when my little arm is sticking out!" He is too cute for words! - Jill

Hey Jill,

Isn't it funny how our children cry out to us in their poor, pathetic state of helplessness but before we come in to save the day we say, "Aw! How cute!" and run to grab our camera?

TFSB,
